The Orlando Magic are hoping to draft some more Wildcats
Is it possible that the Orlando Magic could become the first NBA team with 3 former UK players? According to the Orlando Sentinel, they sure hope so…
Hard to throw a dart at an NBA mock-draft sheet and not hit the name of a title-winning Kentucky player.
The Wildcats could have six players drafted, five in the first round, including power forward Anthony Davis, projected to be the No. 1 lottery pick.
The Magic will have a late first-round pick, likely around 25 (although if they keep losing, the pick will get even better.)
While Davis and small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist are expected to be high lottery selections, the Magic might have a shot at taking small forward Terrance Jones, shooting guard Doron Lamb or point guard Marquis Teague, especially if they can trade up.
Kentucky Small forward Darius Miller can be had in the second round, according to most draft-related websites.
All of the Wildcats are expected soon to announce their intentions.
The Magic could use upgrades at point guard, small forward and shooting guard, given that Jameer Nelson, Hedo Turkoglu and Jason Richardson are all in their 30s.
The Magic already have two former Kentucky players on their roster – center Daniel Orton and shooting guard DeAndre Liggins.
If the Magic end up drafting Teague, Lamb, Miller, or Jones, I will definitely be taking a vacation to Orlando to watch a game. Warm beaches, the ocean, 3 former Kentucky players on the same NBA team. Please let this happen.
