Eric Bledsoe: The Clippers X Factor
Chris Palmer, a high-priced writer for the exclusive ESPN Insider recently decided to sit down and give everyone their $3.99 a month’s worth by writing his list of 5 “X factors for playoff contenders”. Included in his list was our very own Eric Bledsoe.
From ESPN Insider…
Eric Bledsoe, PG
Key contribution: Perimeter defense, energy
With apologies to Blake Griffin, Bledsoe is the Clippers’ best athlete when considering speed, leaping ability and strength. He’s also the Clippers’ best perimeter defender. Bledsoe is as aggressive a point-of-attack perimeter defender as you’ll find in the West, often bullying ballhandlers with his upper-body strength and controlling their paths with frustratingly quick lateral movement.
His deceptively long arms make it difficult to get shots off — he can even contest fadeaways — and make passing around him difficult. His fearlessness when it comes to picking up his man at half court disrupts the opposition’s offense and baits opposing PGs into one-on-one duels.
Eric Bledsoe has been kicking some NBA tail over the last several weeks and has won over coaches, fans and guys like Chris Palmer with his energetic defensive style of play. After playing just 1 minute in the first 22 games of the season, Bledsoe is averaging 6.3 points, 2.4 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in 16.0 minutes per game over his last 10 games. Crank Dat Mustard Bledsoe!
