Anthony Davis would make dream duo with Pistons’ Greg Monroe
From the Detroit Free Press…
Many Pistons fans seemingly have been looking ahead to the NBA draft since the beginning of the season — not even caring what the regular season brought for the franchise.
And now with only three days left in the regular season, many are focused on next month’s NBA draft lottery.
The Pistons aren’t one of the worst teams in the league, so their chances of landing in the top three will be slim when the league conducts the lottery May 30. They are guaranteed at least the ninth spot, but until their fate is known, fans can always dream.
Even casual followers of basketball know Kentucky freshman center Anthony Davis, who led the Wildcats to an NCAA title, will be the No. 1 pick.
Pretty much considered a can’t-miss prospect, if the Pistons were to get lucky and get Davis, they would put him on the frontline next to Greg Monroe and hope to contend for the next 10 years.
But there is disagreement over who will be the second pick, and a lot of that will depend on which team lands at No. 2.
But the second pick will likely come from the following: Kentucky small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kansas power forward Thomas Robinson, UConn center Andre Drummond and Florida shooting guard Bradley Beal.
That’s the early line. A lot can change between now and the draft on June 28.
