Jodie Meeks deserves to be playing more minutes

Last night Doug Collins did the unthinkable and started Evan Turner over Jodie Meeks. Never mind that Turner scored 19 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 6 assists, and the 76ers won, that’s not the point. The point is when you have a player like Jodie Meeks, you give him minutes in the playoffs.

Jodie started 50 of the 76ers 66 regular season games, and averaged 24.9 minutes per game on the season. In the three regular season games the 76ers played against the Bulls, Jodie averaged 15.7 minutes per game, a pretty significant drop off compared to his season average.

During the playoffs, Jodie is averaging 5.5 minutes per game. That’s a drastic drop off.

Yes, Jodie struggled guarding Richard Hamilton in the first quarter of Game 1, but give the guy another chance. He’s a capable defender, solid rebounder, plays hard, and best of all, can shoot lights out. Maybe Collins needs a reminder of what Jodie can do.
