Eric Bledsoe misses two key free throws late but thankfully, Rudy Gay still sucks
Eric Bledsoe got pretty lucky last night. After missing two huge free-throws with just 8.3 seconds left in the game, former Connecticut Huskie Rudy Gay missed a shot at the buzzer to allow the Clippers to escape with an 87-86 victory over the Grizzlies.
Bledsoe finished the game just 1-5 from the charity stripe, but did manage to score 3 points, dish out 3 assists and grab a huge offensive rebound late in the game that led to an and-one.
As a team, the Clippers shot just 13-of-30 (43.3 pct) from the free throw line. According to Elias, that’s the worst free throw percentage in a playoff game in NBA history with a minimum of 30 attempts.
Bledsoe has been playing significant minutes late in games throughout this series, mainly because of his pesky defense, but if he can’t hit his free throws, head coach Vinny Del Negro (who is not racist) may have to reconsider that strategy.
The Clippers now lead the series 2-1 over the Grizzlies.
Here is a video of Bledsoe talking about missing the free throws.
