Demarcus Cousins

UK fans rejoiced everywhere when on April 1st, 2009 news broke that John Calipari would be accepting the head coaching position at the University of Kentucky. Exactly one week later, Demarcus Cousins became the first highly ranked recruit of the John Calipari era, and what followed was one of the most exciting seasons of UK basketball in my lifetime. Cousins had memorable moments throughout his time at UK but there are 3 moments that stand out the most to me. Cousins hitting the shot at the buzzer to send the SEC Championship game into overtime. Cousins telling the Mississippi State student section to “call me”. And Cousins elbowing Swopshire right in his funny looking face. In all seriousness, Cousins was a beast in his one-and-done season with the Cats and played a major role on a team that finished 35-3, finishing his Cats career averaging 15.1ppg, 9.9rpg, 1.8bpg, and 1.0apg. Cousins was drafted 5th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, and is currently in his second season with the team.
